Community Life

I wanted to take a break from philosophy and share a little about our community. How did we get here? When we came back to the States after 10 years as missionaries in Romania, our dear friends had a growing family and a small home on 20 acres. They said they wanted to build a new house and offered us their old home. Rob built their new house and we bought their old one, which made us neighbors. Meanwhile, Rob and Matt were reading a lot of the same books and coming to a lot of the same conclusions about church. Our two families, and one other, decided to step out and try something very different by starting a reformed Baptist, family integrated church. We knew what we wanted, but the nearest church like this was in Houston where Brother Vodie Baucham preaches. Soon we had added several more families and went from meeting in a rented building or in homes to building a church building on our property. Our community blossomed from the belief that we should bless one another with the gifts that we have. Rob is a builder, and a missionary at heart, so he has trained the men of the church to build and helped several  families build homes debt free. So now, we have lots of neighbors, a church, and a community center on the property. Everything has been built without going into debt, so it is all a work in progress, but it is all coming together. I've never experienced anything like it. We have a big garden in the spring, lots of chickens, of few ducks and geese, a few goats, a couple of dogs, lots of kids and lots of fun. I'll be giving you glimpses of life here. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
